The Cook Inlet Housing Authority (CIHA) serves not only as the Anchorage housing authority but as the principal public housing and rental assistance provider of many of the residents in the Cook Inlet region, including the municipality of Anchorage.
The agency serves all residents of Anchorage and its neighboring communities. Many of its housing programs are aimed at low to moderate income families, senior citizens, and the elderly; to provide them with decent, safe, and sanitary housing.
Some project-based programs, however, like those funded by the Native American Housing Assistance and Self Determination Act (NAHASDA) are exclusively available only to Alaska natives and American Indian individuals.
