$55,909Lancaster is the largest city on the California side of the Mojave Desert. The city is bordered by the Tehachapi Mountains to the north and the San Gabriel Mountains to the south.
From a “railroad water stop” town in the 19th century, Lancaster has evolved into a bustling city full of vibrant cultures. It has the only musical road in the country singing the William Tell Overture, otherwise known as the theme from the 1950’s TV show “The Lone Ranger”. The Civic Musical Road stretches from 30th Street West to 40th Street West on Avenue G.
Residents interested in higher education will find a few quality colleges and universities in the city, including Antelope Valley College and California State University, Bakersfield-Antelope Valley.
