Local Information for Wyoming

The city of Wyoming, a home to great outdoors, is located in the mountain region of the United States of America.  The term Wyoming is derived from the Delaware Indian phrase “meche-weami + ing“, which means “land of vast plains”. It is the 10th most wide-ranging and considered to be one of the less populated states in the country.  The cattle industry dominates the area, together with bears and other large beasts that are commonly seen free to roam around, as well. Wyoming is also referred to as “The Cowboy State”, as well as “The Equality State” as it was the very first state in the country to bestow women their right to suffrage.

Wyoming’s tall mountains, wide open plains, and magnificent waterfalls are all notably known for their hiking and skiing trails. There are many opportunities for outdoor recreation activities and a number of tourist destinations to explore, like the National Parks where it is best to experience the history and heritage of the Native America.  The Yellowstone National Park, where you get to see animals in action in their natural habitat, and the Grand Prismatic Spring, are two of the most exquisite examples of these places in Wyoming. There are other national parks as well such as the Grand Teton and the Devils Tower National Museum.

Another asset of Wyoming is its lower crime rate compared to other urban states and also its “greener” atmosphere; with a very little environmental pollution. The semiarid and varied climate is due to Wyoming’s topographical diversity, but it is relatively cool because of its land elevation. Cheyenne is its principal city and is the most populated place in all of the state. It is also America’s Rodeo and Railroad capital and home to museums, historic hotels, and a lot more.

Affordable Housing in Wyoming

The real estate industry in Wyoming widely varies according to location but it continuously grows and is consistent in property appreciation.  The Wyoming Housing Network, Inc. or WHN is a collaborative non-profit organization with a mission to provide high quality resources and equal opportunities for people to achieve their housing dreams. It is also their vision to become the state’s affordable housing leader, promoting access to a sustainable housing.  WHN in collaboration with Wyoming Housing Authority is also an educating arm of the state when it comes to providing financial and technical support, both to partners and buyers.

Rental Assistance in Wyoming

Another option in acquiring a property in Wyoming is through the Wyoming Housing Commission. They administer around 1,100 Housing Choice Vouchers (Section-8).  The beneficiary or applicant to these vouchers will only have to settle a part of their rental and it will be the WHC who is going to pay the remaining balance to the landlords on a monthly basis, upon considering the limits set by the Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

Wyoming is among the states wherein the Housing and Urban Development have jurisdiction at offering rental and housing assistance. It is part of their statewide special program.   All you have to do is decide which particular city you want to settle in and invest with and explore your options in that city. The HUD alone has three options for you to choose from.  It could be under their Good Neighbor Next Door Program, Non-profits or their $1 Homes- Government Sales.

So, if you are considering making your cowboy life dream a reality, browse online and you will see a number of rental and housing assistance that will suit both your needs and your budget.
