Weslaco is a border town located in Hidalgo County, Texas. Its name is derived from the W.E. Stewart Land Company. The city of Weslaco is most notably known as the hometown of US Marine Harlon Block, one of the men in the iconic photograph showing five marines and one Navy corpsman raising the US flag on Mount Suribachi in Iwo Jima.
