WHEDA or Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority was created by the Wisconsin Legislator in the year 1972, with a purpose to meet the increasing demand for an affordable housing financing. Being an independent authority and not a state agency, it does not receive any tax dollars for its operations and programs and likewise adheres to the HUD since Housing and Urban development in Wisconsin started earlier, in 1965.

Rental Assistance in Wisconsin
The WHEDA Housing Choice Voucher Program helps families and individuals with very low to extremely low salary to be able to rent decent, safe, sanitary, and affordable housing of their choice.
