$56,529Coachella is a rural, agricultural, and family-oriented desert city in Riverside County, California. It is the easternmost community in the region known as the Coachella Valley. It is also one of the Golden State’s fastest growing cities in the late 20th century. Incorporated as a city in 1946 with about a thousand residents, Coachella today is home to over 40,000.
Locals celebrate three popular fiestas every year; Cinco de Mayo, the 16 de Septiembre Fiestas Patrias (celebrating Mexico’s independence from Spain), and the 12 de Diciembre (which celebrates the patron saint of Mexico, Santa Maria de Guadalupe).
The city is home to a large population of Hispanic and/or Latinos, hence the Mexican celebrations or fiestas.
