$55,909Although Pomona is the 7th largest city in Los Angeles County, California, very few people are actually quite familiar with it. Founded primarily as an agricultural community in the late 1800s, it has grown into an industrial city since.
Named after the ancient Roman goddess of fruit, Pomona is the site of Fairplex, formerly the Los Angeles County Fairgrounds. Since 1922, it has been the home of the LA County Fair, the largest county fair in the US.
In addition to the county fair, the city of Pomona also hosts the Pomona Swap Meet and the Classic Car Show, which is one of the seven major events annually held at the Fairplex grounds.
