Local Information for Alton, IL

Alton is a city situated along the Mississippi River in Madison County, southwest of Illinois. It is about 15 miles north of the port city of St. Louis, Missouri.

The city of Alton is most notable as the birthplace of jazz legend Miles Davis, as well as for being the hometown of the “gentle giant” Robert Wadlow, the tallest person in history standing at 8 feet and 11.1 inches.
