Beardstown is home to the Old Lincoln Courtroom & Museum, the site of the famous Almanac Trial where Abraham Lincoln successfully defended William “Duff” Armstrong, who was accused of the murder of James Preston Metzker. It is the only courtroom where the 16th US President practiced that is still in use today.
