Local Information for Wisconsin

Wisconsin is America’s “Dairy Land” and it is where you can find one of the most in demand and highest rated towns in the entire country. Having a strong rural and farming influence, the “Dairy Land” title proves to be very justifiable. However, Wisconsin is also referred to as the Badger State.

While it is a reality that Wisconsin provides more dairy product to its country, next to California, and is home to the country’s reputable cheese products, it gets far more profit from manufacturing than from its agricultural efforts. The health care and the tourism industries of the state also prove to be another promising asset.

Wisconsin is a state in the Midwestern part of the United States. Wisconsin, having a population of over 5 million people, boarders 2 of the 5 great lakes, namely Lake Superior and Lake Michigan. Madison is the primary city of the state, while other cities include Oshkosh, Racine, Appleton, Green Bay, Waukesha, and six more interesting places. Milwaukee is the largest of these cities.

The outdoors of Wisconsin is a paradise for hunters, fishermen, and campers. It is also a safe haven for food, wine, and beer lovers, with its artisan cheese makers, breweries, and wineries. Great restaurants and markets also abound in this state; it is home to great places like Wisconsin Dells, Lake Geneva, and Door County.

Affordable Housing in Wisconsin

WHEDA or Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority was created by the Wisconsin Legislator in the year 1972, with a purpose to meet the increasing demand for an affordable housing financing. They then broadened WHEDA’s purpose in 1983 to cover the financing for business development and agricultural activity within the state. Being an independent authority and not a state agency, it does not receive any tax dollars for its operations and programs and likewise adheres to the HUD since Housing and Urban development in Wisconsin started earlier, in 1965.

To apply for an HUD-subsidized housing, simply visit the Wisconsin Housing Authority or the management office of each apartment building, or the housing developer that you like. With HUD’s commitment to help those who are homeless and at risk of becoming homeless, the agency also provides counseling and support services.

The agency assists and educates applicants regarding interest rates, inflated appraisals, repayment terms, and other programs; and even about foreclosures.

Rental Assistance in Wisconsin

The WHEDA Housing Choice Voucher Program helps families and individuals with very low to extremely low salary to be able to rent decent, safe, sanitary, and affordable housing of their choice. At present, the agency also works with local agents who are serving the 39 counties of the state where there is no community program available yet.

Eligible individuals and families will only have to allot 30% to 40% of their salary to pay for their rent. The balance will be subsidized by the HUD or the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. This method is evaluated annually and the standard payment is the maximum value of assistance. This also includes the owner’s rental and utilities acquired by the resident.

Looking for a place to live in Wisconsin, whether it is a house or an apartment to rent should be very easy. There is a lot of available information on rental assistance online that can help you prepare and plan out and most of it comes with affordable terms.
