Utah, Utahn, or Utahan, is a western state of the United States of America. The 4^th of January 1896 marked its admission to the Union as the 45^th state and now it is considered as the 13^th largest and the 10^th with the least dense residency out of the 50 states of the country.  Its capital is Salt Lake City, which is also considered as the largest metro in the state. Utah is bordered by Idaho (in the North), Arizona (in the South), Colorado (in the East), and Nevada (in the West). It dashes Wyoming (in the Northeast) and North Mexico (in the Southeast).

The state is known for its transportation, education, information technology, research, government facilities, and also for its tourist destinations. Its transportation is made faster by interstate highways, which is a product of good government services. There are 26 known colleges and universities in Utah, and the University of Utah, which is a public institution, is known as a powerhouse in the academe, sports, and research.

The State of Utah features a dry climate: a semi-arid to desert climate. It is also known for having a multitude of national parks and is in fact, 3^rd in line next to California and Alaska in this aspect.

Rental Assistance in Utah

Utah is one of the states that offer Section 8 vouchers for those in need of rental assistance. Section 8 vouchers, also known as Housing Choice Vouchers, is part of the federal government’s program intended to help low income families, the disabled, and the elderly to find affordable, safe, sanitary, and decent private housing. Under the program, the voucher recipient can choose any type of housing, provided that the house – and the resident – meet the requirements of the program.

The PHA or Public Housing Authority administers the Section 8 vouchers. It will issue the vouchers only to those who are eligible as determined by a family’s size and the annual gross income.  Once the individual or family finds a home, the program pays for the housing subsidy on behalf of the voucher recipient. The individual or family then shoulders the remaining amount, which is the difference between the actual rent total and the amount subsidized by the Section 8 program.
