The NDHFA offers three rental assistance programs to the residents of North Dakota. One of these is the Section 8 Voucher of Housing Choice Voucher Program of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

Eligibility for the Section 8 program greatly depends on the income qualification of the resident. Other requirements include a clean background/criminal check, and legal citizenship/immigration status, among others. Once admitted to the program, the resident/homeowner will pay 30% of his adjusted monthly gross income to the landlord as his share of the rent. The remaining balance will be shouldered by the program.
