Local Information for Peekskill, NY

It was New Amsterdam resident Jan Peeck who first made contact with the natives of Peekskill, New York and got into agreements that was formalized as the Ryck’s Patent Deed of 1684. It was then that the area was named Peeck’s Kil (Dutch for “stream”).

Today, Peekskill is a diverse community with plenty to offer its visitors and residents. When you go for a visit, you’ll quickly discover why it is now emerging as the “foodie capital of the Hudson Valley”. Other than the food, there’s a lot more to enjoy, such as world-class jazz in an intimate café, shows at the historic Paramount Hudson Valley Theater, and the interesting beauty of their Artist District.
