Local Information for Wichita Falls, TX

Wichita Falls is the county seat of the Wichita County in Texas, United States. With the city’s name, one would think that a waterfall exists in Wichita. However, the original falls, from which the city was named after, was destroyed by a flood in 1886. Despite this, many tourists kept visiting the area to see the non-existent falls. This compelled the city to build an artificial 54-feet waterfall located beside the river in Lucy Park, a 170-acre park that has multiple-paved walkways where people walk, run, bike and roller skate. The park also has river walkway that leads to the location of the artificial falls.

Additionally, Wichita Falls houses the Newby-McMahon Building, which is known as the "world's littlest skyscraper." It is likewise home to the Depot Square Historic District, which has been declared a Texas Historic Landmark.

The city ranked 29th in the 2010 census of the most populous cities in Texas.
