The city of Salem, Massachusetts is probably most notably known in popular culture as the site of the Salem witch trials, one of the most interesting events in the town’s history. The Salem witch trials took place between 1692 and 1693; to this day, it is still one of the most researched historical events in New England.

Located in the southern section of Essex County, Salem, also known as “The Witch City”, is home to some of the most interesting historic sites in Massachusetts. This include the Pickman House, built in 1664 and situated right next to the Witch Memorial and Burying Point Cemetery; the Gedney House, the 2nd oldest house in Salem; and the infamous Witch House, the only surviving structure in the city with a direct connection to the Salem witch trials of 1692.
